FIRST-TIME GUESTS
The trial day
We encourage every new dog to have a day stay with us before their first overnight stay. It isn't a test they can fail — it's how we make sure your dog is genuinely happy out in the paddock, and how you get to see the farm, meet us, and hand over the lead without any nerves.
How the day runs
1. Give us a call
Ring Kim & Tim on 0423 392 305 and we'll find a day that suits. Trial days run open 7 days within our opening hours, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm.
2. Drop them off in the morning
Bring their vaccination certificate, a lead and their usual food. We'll chat at the gate about their routine, their quirks and anything that makes them nervous.
3. A gentle introduction
Your dog meets the pack slowly, on neutral ground, with us right there. Some dogs charge straight in, some watch from the fence for an hour — both are completely normal.
4. A real day on the farm
Paddock time, play, a rest in the shade and a meal. We watch how they handle group play, being called back, and settling down quietly.
5. Pick up and an honest chat
You collect them in the afternoon and we tell you exactly how it went — what they loved, what they found tricky, and whether we think an overnight stay is the right fit.
Common questions
- What if my dog doesn't settle?
- We'll tell you honestly. Sometimes a dog needs a second trial day, sometimes group boarding isn't right for them — and we'd much rather find that out on a quiet Tuesday than the night before your holiday.
- Does my dog need to be social with other dogs?
- Yes — the paddocks are shared, so our guests need to be happy in the company of other dogs. That said, social doesn't mean the life of the party. Quiet and shy dogs do beautifully here once they find their spot.
- What does my dog need to have had?
- A current C5 vaccination and up-to-date flea, tick and worm treatment, same as any stay. Bring the certificate with you.
- How far ahead should I do it?
- As early as you can, especially before school holidays or Christmas. Once the trial day is done you can book overnight stays whenever you need them.
